Safety is the number 1 priority when any diver enters the water. Divers are hard to spot underwater and on the surface. This is where Safety gear comes in, especially Surface Marker Buoys (SMB's), shakers, slates, compasses and whistles.
When participating in any sort of diving, it is important a Dive Flag is visible to passersby. Whether pinned to the top of the dive boat or attached to a float towed behind the diver. Vessels must leave 30 m radius between themselves and the respective dive flag.
